Final Pay Calculator
When employment ends, the final pay has three moving parts: outstanding wages, the annual leave payout, and, where notice is paid out rather than worked, payment in lieu of notice. Each has its own rules under the National Employment Standards, and the mistakes tend to hide in the second and third. This free final pay calculator from Brookvale HR Solutions gives Australian employers an itemised NES minimum estimate before the last pay run is processed.
Daniel Holbrook advises Australian employers on employment separations, including notice requirements, payment in lieu, and final pay compliance. If you need support beyond the calculation, Brookvale HR Solutions offers employee management services covering the full scope of terminations.
Calculate the Gross Final Pay
The calculator itemises the NES minimum components: outstanding wages, the annual leave payout under s 90(2) of the Fair Work Act 2009 (including leave loading where it applies), and payment in lieu of notice under s 117 where notice is paid out rather than worked. Modern awards and enterprise agreements can require more than the NES minimum; always check the applicable instrument before processing the final pay.

Continuous service
Periods of casual employment do not count toward continuous service for the notice period (s 117(4) Fair Work Act).
What This Final Pay Calculator Does Not Cover
The figures are gross and NES minimum only. Redundancy pay is a separate entitlement with its own scale; the Redundancy Pay Calculator handles it. Notice as a standalone question, including the resignation branch, sits with the Notice Period Calculator. Tax, superannuation, long service leave, and deductions of any kind are outside the calculator entirely.
If you are ending employment and want the sequence handled correctly, from the termination reason through to the last pay run, the Letting Someone Go guide covers the process side, and employee management services cover hands-on support.
